Case study

Viking360 sells their controllers since 2009. They started from USB programmable rapid fire controller which supported limited number of games, basically shooter games e.g. Call of Duty. First firmware versions are flashed into the mod controller using standard Microchip software. It was hard restriction period for gamers. T hey had to download and reflash firmware for each game and each mode.

Viking came to Onix-Systems in spring 2010 with idea to simplify customer’s life. We decided to have the single firmware which supports all games and modes. That how the free software called “ Viking360 Preset Editor” was born. That software allows gamer to create the custom preset for multiple games and switch modes and games directly during the game process.

Since final version released hundreds of gamers were pleased and happy with their devices. But Viking did not stop there. During Preset Editor creation we worked with Einar on new mega idea to create universal modded controller which do everything and support all games!

TheViking project

A lot of people were involved, not only Onix’s team. We thanks to all these guys for good job they done. TheViking project consisted of a few subprojects (schematics and mod controller creation, software and USB driver , graphics UI design and website ). Onix-Systems had one of the key role in the implementation of idea into reality. Here is the exact list of tasks performed by us:

Our team worked very hard for a few months to get new product on the marked as soon as faster.

A lot of attention we paid to pretty UI, usability and security. Software has been created using .NET Framework 4 and Windows Presentation Foundation. We tried to use latest features of Microsoft’s graphical rendering subsystem to create pretty animations and UI controls.
